Locally she was known by her nick name “Cha Cha” because she loved to dance so much. As she was working, she would literally be dancing in the halls. I’ll never forget how she made everyone laugh and smile at the Department of Ecology and Evolution, where she worked before her retirement. When I was having a rough day at work or was sad, she always gave me a big hug to make me feel better. She took care of the entire department (students, visitors and faculty included) as if we were her own family. For example, we used to have holiday pot luck parties and Cha Cha would always treat us to a huge dish of her homemade Spanish chicken and rice–it was the best chicken and rice I’ve ever eaten in my life!
Each life is touched by others. With some, the touch is warm and loving and lingers forever. You were an angel on earth and we will miss you here. Cha Cha, I’m sure you are dancing away in heaven right now. My deepest sympathy to your family too as I know this is loss is incredibly painful for you. As long as we all remember her, she will be here. God bless you my friend and I will never forget you!
I extend my sympathy to the family of Ms. Tesoro. She worked for many years on the sixth floor of the Life Sciences Building of Stony Brook University, where my office was located. She was a careful worker, and more importantly, she was cheerful and caring. She provided us with wonderful food every year at Christmas. I am sorry to hear that she has passed on.
To the best Abuelita in the entire world🥺… You’ve been with me since the day I was born. I’ll never forget all the times I came home from school and you had already cooked me scrambled eggs and a little juice box, all the times you took me to the park and we had our favorite pudding together, when you would take me to McDonald’s for nuggies and fries, when you would put on lipstick just to kiss my belly, when we would sing “Te Quiero” by José Luis Perales, when you would teach me how to dance Cuban salsa, when you would go to my school events just to support me, and when you would go out of your way to pick me up from school even though we lived 2 minutes away🥺
I grew up with you Lita and you’ll always be my hero. I was there with you til the end and although you may not have remembered much during the last few days of life, I made sure to go see you any chance I got, I always told you I love you and made sure to give you a kiss each time. My last words to you were “I Love You”… The news I got that afternoon was extremely heartbreaking and painful especially the day before your birthday but I will be strong for you just like you always were. I’ll always love you forever and keep walking down memory lane because it’ll be the place where you never left😭❤
Feliz Cumpleaños Mommy para este año y lo que viene y que te lo pasa bien en el cielo con dios🙏🏼🕊
Te Quiero para siempre♾
