Jean Carol McCoy (nee McNamee) age 60, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 30. 2023. Jean was born and grew up in Flushing, NY, lived in Southold, NY and presently resided in Ridge, NY. She was a graduate of Mary’s Nativity School and Monsignor Scanlon High School. She also received her Associates Degree while working full time and raising two young children. Jean worked as a Database Manager and Prospect Researcher for Peconic Bay Medical Center in the Foundation Department for 27 years, having started when PBMC was a tiny brick building known as Central Suffolk Hospital. It is in this role where Jean played a fundamental role in procuring donations that greatly expanded the growth of the hospital into what it is today.
Jean was also an artist at heart and her many paintings and crafts adorn the homes of so many family and friends. She was a beloved mother, sister, aunt and dog mommy to Frankie. She is survived by her two children, Kelly McCoy and Danny McCoy; Her sisters, Betty Woods and her husband John, Barbara Omaggio and her husband John, Nancy Fregosi and her husband Edward, Mary Ellen Erdman and her husband Kevin and her brother, James McNamee and his wife Clara. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She is predeceased by her mother and father, James Thomas McNamee and Joan Lillian McNamee (nee Usewicz).
Jeannie was an incredible woman who had the heart of an angel. She has made an everlasting impact on all who she has come in contact with. She was generous, kind, compassionate and a loving soul, but she also knew how to give you the best comebacks and couldn’t resist a hilarious dirty joke. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
